FREE LEARNING RESOURCES FOR PARENTS AND TEACHERS
For parents and teachers looking for ideas, there are some great free online resources that you can access from home:
Scholastic has created the Scholastic Learn at Home web site to provide students with 20 days’ worth of learning journeys to keep them actively engaged in learning while your buildings are closed. Students will have access to approximately three hours of learning opportunities per day, including projects based on exciting articles and stories, virtual field trips, reading and geography challenges, and more. These learning journeys were carefully curated by Scholastic’s editors to reduce the burden on teachers and families needing to ensure meaningful learning takes place. The Scholastic Learn at Home website does not require a username or password, and is open freely to all. The learning journeys are accessible on any device. They are designed to limit the need for printing, and allow students to learn independently or with their families. Teachers can even plan virtual learning meetups to discuss and expand on any of the resources found on the site.
WorksheetCloud is offering online video lessons, worksheets and practice exams based on the CAPS and IEB curriculum for Grade 1 to Grade 9 learners in South Africa. Click here to take a look.
Kahn Academy has free daily schedules for students ages 2-18 to keep them learning:
For as long as schools are closed, Audible Stories is open. Right now, kids everywhere can instantly stream an incredible collection of stories, including titles across six different languages, that will help them continue dreaming, learning, and just being kids.
